Vintage Larry Benoit Limited edition Sheath Knife. Dated 2002 and serial Number 2.
At the beginning of each year, Larry would number his knives beginning with #1 and ending with the number of the last knife made in that year. He would start over again with #1 the following year ect. By the turn of the century, Larry was making upwards of 200 knives per year. Over 95% of the knives were of the classic line, (Leather or Stag handle. The leather and stag were either purchased or traded for, never used from Larrys own deer).
Special edition and Limited edition knives were the remaining 5% or less and were made of different handle materials, made at any time of the year and entered into the serial number line at any place.
A special edition knive could just be a single knife or maybe a few consecutive serial numbers entered into the serial number range starting with the next available serial number.
A limited edition knife usually started out with serial number one and ended with the number of the last knife in that limited edition.
The initials LEB and the year were almost always etched on the tang of the knife and the serial number etched on the bottom of the brass hilt or guard.
This vintage Larry Benoit Limited edition Knife is from the remaining 5% or less. Dated 2002 and Serial number 2 is etched on the bottom of the brass guard.
This hand made sheath knife is surely a rare and treasured collectors piece. The blade is 4" long, hand cut and tempered from a solid bar of High Carbon steel. The guard is hand shaped out of a solid bar of brass. The OAL is 8". Serial number 02 is etched on the bottom of the brass guard. The tang is initialed LEB and the year 002. This knife is in new and unused condition, but does show some signs of aging, which is to be expected. Truly a one of a kind beauty and extremely rare.

Larry made this knife completely , from scratch.
He made it to the same specifications as his own hand made knife he used to wear hunting every year.
The handle is wrapped with the hide from Larry's 2001 Buck.(The 250 lb Buck that you see him get in the"Tracking Big Bucks with the Benoits II video".)
Hide was tanned by Larry. He did all his own tanning.
Leather sheath is hand made and hand carved on the face by Larry.
