The music box plays “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
This is the 1992 Vandor celestial design that has become particularly sought after by collectors of vintage celestial and whimsigoth decor.
Important condition/repair information:
The original music-box movement was no longer functioning and has been replaced with a new working movement that plays the correct original tune, “When You Wish Upon a Star.” The original Vandor bottom plate was retained and has been reattached. The plate shows considerable wear around its edges as well as old adhesive residue and appears to have been removed and reattached previously. A photograph of the replacement movement prior to reattaching the plate is included for full disclosure.
The globe remains essentially full, without significant visible water loss. The liquid has some very mild age-related dullness/haze but remains transparent and is not heavily clouded. The globe contains abundant original iridescent glitter/confetti, which swirls around the moon and hanging star when shaken.
The painted base and decorative elements are in excellent vintage condition. Please enlarge and review all photographs carefully; they are part of the condition description. 6 inches tall, base is about 4-4.25 inches in diameter.
