Description: Close-up view of vivid magenta-pink blooms of the Engelmann's Hedgehog Cactus (Echinocereus Engelmannii), a native Arizona flowering cactus. The card back notes the plant grows in low clumps of up to 30 stems with shaggy, fat cigar-shaped stems densely covered with drooping needle-like spines one to five inches long, with purple flowers appearing in March and April. A nice example of Southwest desert flora subject matter popular with collectors of Arizona natural history cards.
