Kathleen Vincent was aBritish stage and early silent-film actress active in the mid-1910s. The National Portrait Gallery (London) holds several studio negatives of her by Bassano Ltd dated1916, which firmly places her career in the Edwardian/WWI era. Contemporary film lists credit her intwo 1916 British shorts,Solomon’s TwinsandBurglar Bill. Surviving credits are thin (typical for one-reel productions of that moment), but the listings confirm she was working on screen during 1916. Vincent’s image circulated widely on real-photo postcards produced in London by theRotary Photographic Co., often in the firm’s popular“British Beauty”and “Glamour” Surviving cardsare commonly datedc.1915–1918. Rotary was one of Britain’s biggest real-photo postcard publishers,founded in London around 1901. The firm specialized in actress/celebrity portraits. There is little accessible information about this actress. She appears to be one of the many working actresses whose careers were documented mainly through studio sittings and postcard publicity during the postcard boom.
