This is version 3 of the official Delaware Drug Recognition Expert challenge coin, which was issued in August, 2026. The coin measures about 2.75" in height and about 1.25" wide. It is 2mm thick.
This latest version of the coin, in the shape of the State of Delaware, has the following features on the front side:1) A raised Delaware DRE logo and the words "The First State", honoring Delaware' s status as the first state to ratify the US Constitution.2) The diamond at the top relates to Delaware's nickname as "The Diamond State."3) The blue underneath the diamond at the top, and the red and white stripes at the bottom, are both meant to mirror the flag of the United States.
The back side contains the following features:1) Attributes from the Delaware state flag, including the colonial blue color, state coat of arms and the date December 7, 1787, denoting the date Delaware ratified the US Constitution.2) The phrase "Statewide Response" and a roadway going from the top of the state to the bottom of the state, signify that Delaware DREs may respond to a DRE callout statewide.
