Up for sale is an authentic, antique Victor Type I (V-I) external-horn talking machine base, manufactured by the Victor Talking Machine Co. between 1912 and 1915. This is a fantastic find for a collector looking for a solid, functional project base or a beautiful display piece with genuine historical character. Item has a beautiful, quarter-sawed solid oak cabinet. It is in great structural condition with no major damage, boasting a gorgeous, heavily aged original patina. It has not been stripped or modernly refinished, preserving its historical integrity. The panel on the bottom of the machine displays some warping (see photo). The single-spring motor winds up and the turntable spins smoothly. The original metal data plate is intact and clearly readable, showing Model: V-I and Serial Number: 34104D (the \"D\" suffix denotes Victor\'s factory hardware/design revision for this era). Comes with the oak cabinet/motor base, the original winding crank, independent tonearm assembly, turntable platter, and exhibition-style reproducer. Please note that this listing does NOT include the original horn and is missing one of the screws that holds the cast-metal back bracket in place. It is being sold as a \"headless\" base unit, perfect for someone who already owns a loose horn or wishes to source a standard steel/brass horn independently.
