1893 NYC Engine 999 Empire State Express Locomotive Vintage Blueprint 4-4-0. Please reference photos and condition notes above. Best offer and combined shipping available Please ask any questions before offerding. Approximate dimensions 18" x 7".
Vintage blueprint-style reproduction of Plate V, depicting New York Central & Hudson River Railroad locomotive No. 999, the famous 4-4-0 associated with the Empire State Express. “Plate V” refers to the plate number in the original published technical/engineering series, not the locomotive model or class.
The printed caption dates the original drawing to July 1893 and credits designer William Buchanan. No. 999 was built for high-speed passenger service and became one of the best-known American steam locomotives of the 1890s.
The physical blueprint itself appears to be a later reproduction, likely dating to the mid-20th century, rather than an original 1893 printing. It measures approximately 18 inches wide and shows fold lines, age-related discoloration, and surface wear consistent with storage and handling. Exact printing date is unknown.
Overall good condition. Signs of corner, edge, and surface wear consistent with age and handling. Signs of storage creases, edge wear, and distress. Some corner curling. Item as pictured.
