This is a listing for a vintage 1950s Korean War era Sukajan Souvenir Reversible Velour Japan Map Jacket.This type of jacket is a sought-after piece of military and fashion history. It is an authentic, reversible 1950s Korean War Era Sukajan souvenir Jacket. This jacket was purchased by a U.S. serviceman stationed in the Pacific theater during the early 1950s.
The Jacket features a Dragon and the word Japan on the red and white side with a detailed tour map of Japan on the reverse side. The map showcases major cities of the era, including Sapporo, Aomori, Kyoto, Kure, Sasebo, Hachinohe, Etajima, Tokyo, Yokohama, and Yokosuka. Jacket also features the highly collectible, original vintage TTS “Tokyo” metal zipper, which operates smoothly.
Jacket fits like a small (there is no size tag that I have found) and it has the following "laid flat" measurements:
- Pit-to-Pit: 19.75 inches
- Length (Back of collar to bottom of hem): 21.5 inches
- Sleeve Length (Collar seam to sleeve cuff): 27.5 inches
- Waist (Unstretched ribbing): 17 inches
Thia vintage jacket comes to you in used fair / good condition, showing some definite signs of age, use and storage wear. These signs of wear include fading to the red of the jacket, stains on the sleeves, wear holes in some spots of the elastic and jacket as well as some seam separation on the white and black side of the sleeve seams.
