Veteran's Pin of Colonel Charles S. Russell, commander of the 10th Connecticut Infantry. He was the first Connecticut regimental commander to be KIA on February 8, 1862 while making an amphibious assault on Roanoke Island, NC.

Russell was a famous person being a member of the Wide-Awakes and had joined the local militia company, the Derby Blues, at age 17.
