SIGNED BY AUTHOR Willie and His Papa F. Opper 1901 Book McKinley Teddy Satire: $500.00
Cleaning out my neighbor's condo. He was a collector of many things, but he really loved vintage stuff and had a great eye for fashion, design, and color. He had so many walls full of shelves with untouched books, this being one of them. Basically ... everything, anything, all the things. 9.5x8" with 200 pages hardcover printed by Grossett & Dunlap in 1901. Pictures and text are from the New York Evening Journal by permission of William Randolph Hearst. Book features art by Frederick Opper and features a series of single-panel political satire cartoons involving whiny child Willie (President William McKinley), his rambunctious and uncontrolable cousin Teddy (Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt), Willy's Papa (trusts/monopolies) and their Maid (Senator Mark Hanna). Book frontispiece has nice bw portrait of Opper with facsimile signature underneath. Book has great content with many images of caricaturized McKinley and Roosevelt with numerous scenes related to McKinley's administration including "Full Dinner Pail, Republican Elephant and image of "The Trusts" dressed as Uncle Sam. Superb content. Scarce. Please examine the photos and let me know if you have questions. Ships very well packed by USPS Media Mail with additional insurance.
