You\'re looking at a genuine pre-World War II KA-BAR hunting knife, made by the Union Cutlery Company in Olean, New York.Video of this blade here! tang is stamped KA-BAR with \"Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.\" on one face, and \"Union Cut Co.\" on the other. That exact stamp combo was used before the war, up until around 1942 or 1943, when the company switched over to a different mark. After that point, Union Cutlery officially renamed itself KA-BAR Inc. in 1952, so this knife predates that change by a good twenty years or more.This was one of KA-BAR\'s classic civilian hunting and skinning patterns from the era, the kind carried by outdoorsmen, trappers, and hunters in the 1920s and 30s. The handle has a warm ivory tone with black and red fiber spacers at the guard and butt, a detail collectors look for on knives of this period. It comes with its original leather sheath, stamped KA-BAR, which still has its snap closure intact.The blade shows honest wear from decades of use and sharpening, with some surface pitting and patina you\'d expect on a knife this old.
