RARE 1920s Los Angeles-San Diego Air Line Schedule ~ Timetable Fares ~ Lindbergh:
$420.00

Description:On March 1, 1925, Ryan Airlines Incorporated, founded by Tubal Claude Ryan and Frank Mahoney, started the first year-round, regular passenger service in the U.S.A. and they operated it as the Los Angeles-San Diego Air Line. The company modified three Standard Aero Corporation J-1 Trainers to carry four passengers as well as a Davis-Douglas Cloudster, which was modified to carry as many as ten passengers. Although successful, it ceased operations in 1927 when Ryan Airlines decided to begin building airplanes. Their first unique design, the M-1, was popular among airmail pilots and its reliability attracted the attention of a young man name Charles Lindbergh, who contacted the company and asked if they could build an airplane that could make a nonstop flight from New York to Paris. The company assured Lindbergh they could, and the result was the Spirit of St. Louis, and a flight that would propel Lindbergh into history. For more information about this company, visit the website of the San Diego Air & Space Museum - Ryan Aeronautical Collection.
