LARGE 7\" X 5.25 AMBROTYPE PHOTOGRAPH MOUNTAIN SCHOOL FRANKLIN COUNTY PA ? 1872:

An ambrotype photograph measuring approximately 7\" wide & 5.25 tall (almost a full plate). This shows a School House. Painted on the building is the name \"MountainSchool and the date 1872.\" Students, teachers and most likely parents pose in front. There is also a U.S Flag at the top, where the roof meets.This photograph was recently purchased in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. We believe it is likely that Mountain School was located on Mountain Rd, between Cove Gap and Ft. Loudon. We were able to find a photograph of Mountain School house at that location photographed in 1928. This building is identical in construction. I have read that an older one was located nearby, so this may not be the exact same school. The other one was located within a mile of the other.Considering Location purchased, and building construction, we will say a safe bet would be this school is in Franklin County, near Cove Gap and Ft. Loudon. Wonderful view showing life in rural Pennsylvania during the 19th century.This image has no frame. It has the original wood back only.
