Crawfish Springs, Georgia, the Plantation of James Gordon, owner of Lee & Gordon Mills was the Union Army HQ and a field hospital during the Battle of Chickamauga. An Original Union Army General Order issued at Headquarters Dept of the Cumberland, Crawfish Springs, Geo, September 17, 1863, announcing General Morton takes command of the Army Engineers. This field order was printed at Crawfish Springs. Postwar, the Town of Chickamauga grew up around the plantation. Today Crawfish Springs Park is a beautiful, active park nestled in the historic town of Chickamauga The original Lee & Gordon Mill survives as a National Historic Monument. This 1p 8 x 5\" ptd order has age stains & edge wear, Overall VG. This is the only Crawfish Springs Order I have seen, possibly because Rosecrans was forced to rejoin the Army of the Cumberland in it\'s disastrous defeat at Chickamauga Creek the next day.
