Striking antique religious artwork depicting Christ after the Crucifixion attended by angels, with a radiant Eucharistic chalice above. Cherub faces, candles, flowers and instruments of the Passion create a dramatic devotional scene with wonderful Gothic and dark-academia appeal.
The artwork is housed in an exceptionally ornate black/dark-finished wood frame measuring approximately 26.5” x 23” overall. The frame features deeply detailed raised decoration and has wonderful age and character.
The glass has a small trapped air bubble/inclusion, an interesting characteristic of older glass and something I have intentionally left untouched.
This is an antique piece and shows age-related wear throughout, including areas of finish loss, chips and losses to the decorative frame. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition. I sell my antique and vintage pieces as found rather than repairing or refinishing them. Some buyers appreciate the authenticity of original age and wear, while others may have the skills to restore a piece to their preference.
