"The Saint-Lazare priory in Paris was a significant site, particularly for the Vincentian order. Founded in 1625 by St. Vincent de Paul, the Vincentians took possession of the priory, which then became known as the Lazarists. This location served as a headquarters from which numerous missions to the rural poor were organized. The Vincentians also utilized Saint-Lazare for clerical training, offering retreats to men preparing for the priesthood. The French Revolution caused hardship for the order, but they experienced a resurgence in the 19th century."
